For the perfect trip, follow these instructions…
I can’t tell you how many times during our recent trip to California my husband looked over at me and said, “I wouldn’t be any happier in Europe, or off the coast in Spain, this place is perfect.” That’s the secret, some of the most beautiful places in the world are right in our backyard. We kicked off our trip in San Diego and I played the ‘honeymoon’ card to get a crazy discount on a Jeep Wrangler that would take us up and down the coast. It was genius, all the benefits of a convertible but with extra space and cool points.
San Diego has a little bit of everything, Union Kitchen & Tap in Gaslamp is where you hole up for NFL Sunday, the fish and chips don’t get any better. Rustic Root and Altitude have amazing rooftop bars. Fun surprise, hit up Altitude when the Padres play because the rooftop overlooks the stadium.
I wish we could have spent more time in Old Town San Diego but it was the perfect place to hit on a Sunday afternoon because of the street fairs and live music. An authentic meal at Casa Reyes really makes you feel like your in Mexico (it’s so close!)
Definitely dip into Mimi and Red for a little shopping (ladies) and Normal Heights is perfect just for exploring. Make sure to go to Sycamore Den and order Cathead Vodka, or have the bartender make you something special!
We are very lucky to have friends that live in Encintas and Del Mar. Thank you Mahins’ & Lindleys’ for an awesome night! Who knew gluten free could be so good??
